Chippewa Township, located in Chippewa County, is a sparsely-populated township with extensive forest lands and plenty of hiking trails and wilderness areas to explore. Of Chippewa Township’s 61,440 acres, only 7,587 acres are privately owned. The township is dissected by M-28, the main East-West thoroughfare across the Upper Peninsula. It’s also home to two unincorporated communities: Eckerman and Strongs.
