Sign that reads "Welcome to Rudyard, small but friendly"

Rudyard Township, located in Chippewa County, is geographically one of the region’s smaller townships, measured at just 90 square miles. Its location is optimal, however, as it is located on Interstate-75, just 22 miles from Sault Ste. Marie and 29 miles to St. Ignace. The township’s pastoral setting is on display to travelers who witness vast agricultural fields as they travel on this north-south corridor. Rudyard Township is home to the unincorporated community of Rudyard, named in 1890 after author and poet Rudyard Kipling.
