Notice of Public Review/Comment Period and Public Hearing
5-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Village of Newberry is seeking public review and comment on its 5-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Beginning September 16, 2026, the plan is available on the Village website: www.villageofnewberry.com, and at the Village of Newberry Office, located at 302 E. McMillan Avenue, Newbery, MI 49868, until October 16, 2026.
The Parks and Recreation plan evaluates local recreational facilities, assesses community needs, and outlines an action program for future improvements. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) requires communities to maintain a DNR-approved, 5-year recreation plan to qualify for state recreation grant programs.
The required 30-day public review and comment period will begin on September 16, 2026, and end on October 16, 2026.
The public is encouraged to provide written feedback, suggestions, or comments. All submissions must be received by October 16, 2026, by 4:00PM. Please direct your written communications to Allison Watkins, Village Manager via email: awatkins@newberrymi.gov (Please use the subject line “Recreation Plan Comments”), or by mail/in-person drop-off to Village of Newberry Office, Attn: Allison Watkins, 302 E. McMillan Avenue, Newberry, MI 49868.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN THAT the Village of Newberry Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed Parks and Recreation Master Plan on October 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM, in the Village of Newbery Council Chambers located at 307 E. McMillan Avenue, Newberry, MI 49868.
