INVITATION TO BID 

NEW CONSTRUCTION FOR: 

GREAT LAKES BOAT BUILDING SCHOOL 

Clark Township, MI 

 

The Great Lakes Boat Building School is seeking sealed bids for construction of a 10,000 SF Educational Facility Expansion in Cedarville, Michigan which will be received by the Architect, Sidock Group, Inc., 757 S. Wisconsin Ave., Gaylord, Michigan 49735 until 3:00 pm local time, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.  Bids may be hand delivered, mailed, or emailed as PDFs. 

Bids emailed on the day of bid should be sent to: ggaska@sidockgroup.com  Deliveries after the cut-off time will not be accepted.  Bids will be publicly opened at 3:10pm in the same office. 

The principal items of work consist of the following: Construction of a new Educational Facility including associated site work and boat shelter.  See Bid Documents: Construction Documents dated 11/15/24 and Specifications dated 1/15/25.

There will be a mandatory on-site pre-bid meeting in the GLBBS Conference Room on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 1:00pm 

Questions will be accepted until 5:00 pm, Wednesday, February 12, 2025; and should be directed in writing via email to Gint Gaska, AIA, at Sidock Group, Inc., email:  ggaska@sidockgroup.com  

The intent of the Owner is to award one (1) Contract for the entire project.  Bidders are required to demonstrate previous Mass Timber (MT) construction experience and be able to reference successfully completed MT projects over 10,000 SF.  Only bidders with such experience within the bidding team will be considered. 

Proposals must be accompanied by a bid guarantee which may be in the form of cash or a cashier’s check in an amount not less than 5% of the bid, payable to “Great Lakes Boat Building School” or an approved Bid Bond for not less than 5% of the bid.  A 100% performance bond and a payment bond is required.  See the Technical Specifications for all contracting provisions to be included in the bid package.  This is a Davis-Bacon, current prevailing wage rate, project. 

A Teams/ZOOM meeting link will be emailed to bidders for those wanting to remotely view the bid opening. 

Bids shall remain firm and shall not be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) calendar days after bid opening. 

This project will be partially funded with Federal funds from the United States Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) and therefore is subject to the Federal laws and regulations associated with that program. The Davis-Bacon Related Acts for prevailing wages apply to all Contractors and subcontractors performing work. The GLBBS reserves the right to accept, reject or negotiate any or all bids to waive or not waive informalities or irregularities in the bids or bidding procedures and to accept any bid determined by the Owner to be in the best interest of the Owner.
