The Eastern Upper Peninsula Regional Planning & Development Commission (EUPRPDC) recently received a Coastal Zone Management grant through the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).
The project includes a general analysis of the shoreline areas of the Eastern Upper Peninsula, which includes Chippewa, Luce, and Mackinac Counties. The intent of the project is to provide the public with information on coastal resiliency planning for our region. It will also produce analyses of the current land use, soil types, historical impacts of fluctuating water levels, coastal hazards, and a review of current master plans for the communities with water frontage. The final product of this planning initiative is a story map of information which will be hosted on the EUP Regional Planning website: www.eup-planning.org.
EUP Regional Planning & Development Commission will be hosting a virtual presentation on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. This presentation will describe the project and provide maps and other highlights of the results. It will also allow for public input and questions.
