Newton Township, located in Mackinac County, was founded in 1886. It covers 154.8 square miles, of which four percent is water. Several small lakes are found in Newton Township, the largest of which is Milakokia Lake at 1,956 acres. Anglers fish the lake for pike, bass, walleye, and perch. The township features some agricultural lands in its eastern portion and some limestone quarries in the northwest. It is home to the unincorporated community of Gould City.
