Columbus Township, located on the western side of Luce County, measures 143.3 square miles, of which 1.74 percent is covered by water. This sparsely-populated township is heavily forested and is part of the larger Lake Superior State Forest system. This forest, with its dense stands of Jack Pine and mixed swamp conifers, offers remote destinations for birding, hunting, and hiking. A variety of small lakes and rustic campgrounds are peppered throughout the township. Columbus Township is home to the unincorporated communities of Laketon and McMillan.
