St. Ignace Township is located in central Mackinac County, situated immediately north of the City of St. Ignace. It consists of approximately 97 square miles of land and 45 square miles of water. Its southeast portion borders Lake Huron. Of the township’s 56,320 acres, 59 percent are forest, 38 percent are wetlands, and three percent are open land. There is a fair amount of commercial development in this township, mostly focused on the I-75 and Mackinac Trail corridors. St. Ignace Township is home to Kewadin Shores Casino and Hotel, operated by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
